A history major obsessed with caramels and genocide, Ellie is mourning the death of her best and only friend when her brother Noah, estranged for seven years, turns up on her doorstep. Longing both to help and be helped by his sister, Noah listens to Ellie's irreverent, heartfelt "eulogy" for her friend, a lawyer named Calvin with a passion for justice and more than a few ghosts to lay. But the stories she tells, ever increasing in their honesty, threaten an end to the lies their family has told for years. A tale of plastic toy dinosaurs, eavesdropping on the dead, the United States Constitution, and quite a few unexpected heroics.
