AJ Epstein
El Presidente
Amongst a few other things, AJ is the proprietor of this here theatre space. In 1995, AJ presaged the webcam revolution when he broadcast the musical Cowboys in Love live to the internet. His company, The Ethereal Mutt – Limited produces theatre, music and indie film – often with an eye towards the exploration of Science through Art. Off Broadway: Tim Crouch’s An Oak Tree, Mike Daisey’s How Theatre Failed America, Regional and Touring: The Flying Karamazov Brothers’: L’Universe; Starball; A Dreamy Musical Astronomy Show; Saving Tania’s Privates; Muffin Face. TV and Film: Lynn Shelton’s We Go Way Back; Guy Maddin’s Brand Upon the Brain!; Tim Crouch’s England at The Henry; Survival Skills. In 2004 Seattle Weekly named him “Seattle’s Best Lighting Designer”, and his lighting work as a designer and light artist have been seen in theatres and galleries worldwide. He sits on the boards of The Lark Center for Play Development in New York and Humanities Washington. He studied with Mabou Mines and toured with AC/DC, Rod Stewart and the Eagles. Most of all, he is THRILLED to be making art once again with a couple chaps named Kevin.
Liza Comtois
Associate Producer
is a Seattle based producer and dramaturg. Her freelance producing credits include The West Side Story Project for the 5th Avenue Theatre, Invisible Ink and Project X: When the Comet Comes for House of Dames Productions and as the Forums Producer for the Seattle International Film Festival. Other experience includes work with ShadowCatcher Entertainment on Sherman Alexie’s Smoke Signals, the National Performance Network tour of O, Say a Sunset written and composed by Robin Holcomb and as Intiman Theatre’s Artistic Associate under Bartlett Sher. Liza’s dramaturgy credits include nine world premiere adaptations with Seattle’s Book-It Repertory Theatre, Milwaukee’s First Stage and AJ Epstein Presents as well as production dramaturgy for Intiman, ACT, Book-It Repertory Theatre, Strawberry Theatre Workshop and upstart crow. She was also dramaturg at the 2008 and 2009 Icicle Creek Theatre Festivals. Liza is a script evaluator for the Sundance Theatre Program and participated in their Summer Theatre Labs and White Oak Lab. She is currently Associate Producer at The Ethereal Mutt – Limited and an Associate Partner at Freehold Theatre Lab/Studio.
Emily Harvey
Venue Manager
Emily is a local director, playwright and stage manager. She is a founding member and artistic director for Blood Ensemble. She has directed Paper Bullets for Ghost Light Theatricals, All in the Timing for StageRight Theatre, Macbeth for Hell Kite Productions, among others. She has stage managed for 5th Avenue Theatre, Seattle Children's Theatre, Village Theatre, Orlando Shakespeare Theatre, Mount Baker Theatre among others.
